Did you know that the Moon Phases have meanings that can help you with day to day things?
Its true!
Just as the Moon has an effect on the tides, it's effect can be felt on humans too.
The Full Moon is the most powerful, it is excellent for all types of spell work and wishes. Now is the time to cleanse your magick tools and empower/recharge your stones, other magickal items and yourself.
The Waning Moon; the Moon following the Full Moon, is best for eliminating, forgetting, letting go or losing things. This is the time when the Moon is "shrinking" in size, so spell work and wishes that express the same feeling will work best during this time.
The New Moon is the time when the Moon seems to almost be invisible. It is a perfect time to rest and relax. Spell work and wishes should not be made on a New Moon.
The Waxing Moon is the Moon that follows the New Moon and leads up to the Full Moon. It is "gaining" in size, so spell work and wishes to achieve success, a raise, new job, new love or renewed commitment work best during this time.

Commonly Used Witches Tools:
Grimoire
Start your own Grimoire; a note book of personal works. Write your own spells, gardening ideas, recipes, etc. Take notes on magickal items that you have obtained; stones, herbs, incense, tarot cards, runes, etc. Its a good place to track your successes and misses. It is an ideal way to find yourself and what works best for you.
The Cauldron:
The cauldron is made from cast iron, it is used to mix, brew, stew and create any number of concoctions. It is also a symbol of the female, in particular, the mother heavy with child;
from it's belly comes a wonderful birth of magick.
The Besom a.k.a. Witches Broom:
The besom is used as a ceremonial tool generally used to ‘sweep’ away negativity. Witches used to enlist the Besom’s powers to sweep new life into early crops. This practice included jumping, leaping and running through the fields or crops. From a distance people saw this celebration and it appeared that Witches were flying above the fields; this is where the myth of Witches flying on brooms stemmed from.

Censor or Thurible:
Fireproof container used to hold burning charcoal, incense, or herbs. An excellent tool for ceremonies or on an altar. Can be used instead of a cauldron for burning purposes.

Wand:
Harvest your wand only after searching openly for it amongst the trees and woodlands. Find it, remember it. Speak to the tree and Earth of it. But, do not harvest your wand until the day of a Full Moon. The preferred length is 18” long or the length from the tip of your middle finger to the inside crook of your elbow. (This is your area of power, so extend your power by two by making your wand that length.) Strip it of all the bark, consecrate it with blessed oil. Embellish it any way you see fit; it is your magickal tool! Visit the tree often, thank it, it will be your friend, and lend you strength. This tree can also provide you with your staff / walking stick and handle for your besom. Of course, if you are uncomfortable crafting your own wand you may purchase one from a local shoppe, or on line catalog. Just make it your own..
